DICE fails with latest BF3 patch, 5DK returns to Black Ops

As most of you know, the latest patch for Battlefield 3 by DICE has changed nearly every aspect of BF3 and for the most part, not for the better, and this is the overwhelming general consensus among members and admin of 5DK. As such, both of our BF3 servers will be closed by the end of their current billing periods, which will be end of the calendar month at the latest.

However, this does mean that we are going back and embracing the fun, faster paced action that is CoD: Black Ops. We have already got a new Black Ops server, based out of Adelaide, chosen to be hosted there as it's the most centrally located server facility available, allowing for a lower average ping of our members in the server. It will also have Black Tomato Mod running as usual, which means in-game commands for members, reserved slots if the server gets full, Autokick/AutoWarn for Second Chance fags and of course ping kicker.

EOL for GameServers

We're going to change as many of the servers we run over to Hypernia as we can. GameServers have been failing with their quality of service, especially lately with the TS server crashing and now being down for at least a day, and we've had enough of it.

Teamspeak server and website will move to Hypernia servers in the coming days, addresses will still be the same (ts.5dk.org.au and www.5dk.org.au ) but the port will likely change for TS. If it does we'll let you know.

Black Ops servers won't change since they're unfortunately GameServers exclusive, and the 32P BF3 Server, which now runs R14 Patch and B2K 24/7, won't move either since it's already on Hypernia.

~EDIT 18/12/2011!~

ts.5dk.org.au now points to the new Hypernia hosted server! You will need to change your bookmarks from ts.5dk.org.au:9142 to ts.5dk.org.au:10110. Everything else is exactly the same.

The website is also now hosted on Hypernia.

Donations will soon be taken through PayPal, and a PayPal button will be on the website shortly. We no longer accept donations via ClanPay as we no longer use primarily use GS servers.
~EDIT 28/01/2012!~

New donations button is now live! All donations are now taken through the PayPal button at the top of each page on this website!

Modern Warfare 3 LAN support confirmed

Infinity Ward and Activision have confirmed that the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will offer full LAN support, including match customisation options.

As Call of Duty fans have pointed out, Electronic Arts' upcoming rival, Battlefield 3, does not support LAN play.

'MW3 has LAN along with detailed class restriction control + default class creation option,' tweeted Infinity Ward mouthpiece Robert Bowling.

Players will have the option to outlaw any specific weapons, equipment, perks, death streaks or attachments on their own LAN servers, Bowling went on to say.

Activision has previously confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will support dedicated servers too, in response to fan reaction to their removal from Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on 8 November, 2011.

Activision and Infinity Ward have confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have dedicated server support at GamesCom 2011.

'The big announcement today is that we're supporting dedicated servers for PC, which is really cool,' said Noah Heller, who works at Beachhead Studios on Call of Duty: Elite in a comment to Eurogamer.

'And of course we're working really hard right now on the customised version of Elite for the PC [versions of Call of Duty games], because it's an open platform and has some challenges.'

We saw Modern Warfare 3 recently and were...nonplussed.

Check out bit-gamer's GamesCom 2011 news hub for all the information from Cologne, Germany this year.

It won't be long before you can try those dedicated servers for yourself, but in the meantime videos will have to suffice:
